I Won New York!

Allan and I are headed to the Big Apple on an all-expense paid trip in May 2015. All my hard work selling Hunter Douglas window products finally paid off! We are being treated to four days and three nights of sights, sounds, food, lodging, and even a gala. Trip includes round trip airfare! What an adventure!

Fickled Finger of Fate!

Who knew on that January evening that a split second of bad timing would define an entire month!

We were out the door on our way to dinner when I closed the car door on my left index finger when attempting to move my briefcase to the back seat. I was more concerned about all the blood and the deep gash than what I did to my joint and bone. Allan quickly wrapped up the wound and we were back on our way. Except the pain was beginning to be unbearable and we decided to make the emergency room our next stop. We waited hours and my name was never called, so we left and had a late dinner at Applebee's on Fourth street.

We started out early the next morning for the closest urgent care center. The caring staff x-rayed my hand, Dermabonded my cut, and splinted my finger. Also got a script for antibiotics. Sent on my merry way.
The cut healed quickly and I removed the splint. I took all the pills and ran warm water over my finger several times a day. The only time it didn't hurt was when I was showering. The pain was beginning to make me frantic!
Two more trips to urgent care and even the doctor thought something else was up. My fracture had healed as had the gash - but my joint was a throbbing mess.
I was assured by an orthopedic surgeon that eventually everything should heal up fine. Crush injuries can be the most troublesome and longest healing. I was just told to use it. It is slowly improving, I am happy to report!
